Below are just a few examples and explanations of the In-Home audiometric evaluations that are necessary to best address your needs
Pure Tone Audiometrics
A pure tone air conduction hearing test is given to find out the faintest tones a person can hear at selected pitches (frequencies) from low to high fq. During this test, earphones are worn and the sound travels through the air in the ear canal to stimulate the eardrum and then the auditory nerve. You will be instructed to give some type of response such as pressing a button to indicate that the sound was heard. Hearing sensitivity is plotted on an audiogram, which is a graph displaying intensity as a function of frequency
Bone Conduction
In bone-conduction audiometry, the test signal is presented by a bone vibrator placed on the mastoid of the patient. The bone vibrator uses the skull to transfer the vibrations to the cochlear.

Since it bypasses your outer and middle ears, bone conduction testing can determine how well your inner ears work independent of any problems that might occur in your outer and middle ears.
Speech Discrimination
The purpose of Word Recognition testing is to determine how well you hear and understand speech in a perfectly-quiet environment when the volume is set at your Most Comfortable Level

To do this, your specialist says a series of 10 or more single-syllable words. The words in this test cover the whole spectrum of sounds made in English. They are single syllable words such as chew, what, knees, etc. Your Word Recognition score is an important indicator of how much difficulty you will have communicating, and how well you may do if you wear a hearing aid. If your word recognition is poor, speech will sound garbled to you.

This testing is where a third party with a familiar voice is critical so that the specialist can see how you hear speech in your world.
Quick SIN (Speech In Noise)
Quick SIN is a form of speech discrimination testing that allows for better comprehension of how you hear speech with-in low to high levels of backround sounds. This enables for greater understanding as to how to best fit you with appropriate technology and as to what forms of counseling will be necessary for hearing rehebilitation.
